Reflection 2

As for this assignment, I think I really liked it. I like to feel free to create my work, and in this case I enjoyed using anything instead of a brush and pencil. I used my hands and a piece of paper to paint my picture.

I also liked that we could work on a large format and we used acrylic, this is one of my favorite materials. I felt free to create this work, and I would paint the canvas, and the spots would form the buildings.

Also I discovered that I happen to like to draw quick sketches of architecture. Before doing a big work, I drew a quick sketch, and I really enjoyed the process. I like the fact that the simplified and not very smooth lines and shapes give an image of the building, phosphates, windows and balconies.
I’ve always admired the simplistic and illustrative drawings of houses and landscapes, and I’ve tried to do it myself sometimes, but I’ve always tried to go slower to work out the details. But when I did these two drawings, I realized that making quick sketches really helps to develop your skills and your vision. Here I am very inspired by the artist: Anton Marrast
His collection contains a lot of natural drawings, his style is simplified and illustrative, but he is not afraid to add colors and interesting details, such as the fire in the windows on Illustration 1.

At this stage of my work, I was inspired, largely because of the material. I think in the future I would like to add such details to my work. In my head, the idea of a painting that would combine color spots and linear images of authentic London buildings, with an abundance of graffiti. In my head, it looks like it’s a callouse, but all the fragments are drawn and represent a collection of all the healing features of a defined place.

The whole process of creating the work took place in the street, the wind blew, and sometimes the work was unhooked from the wall and bent, I had to hold it, and in places it printed marks where it should not be. However, even this spontaneity I really liked, I like to feel free in my work, and that’s why i love painting. I can draw anything I want, and I can do it easily. That’s why I don’t like fabric or thread. I don’t like the fact that I have to work a lot with my hands, with small details, and I have to worry too much about how exactly I have to do something. Drawing is much easier for me, and I feel more comfortable whan I have to to understand the structure of something and draw it instead of sculpting or constructing it.

In many ways I love this work because it’s very illustrative and simplistic, and I love this style as much as I love more realistic works. And the thing I love the most in the world is mixing illustration and realism, which makes a lot of my ideas.
Of course, the second work is also more impressive and might look like an old photo, but I like that I did not go into the small growths and drew everything simplified, with rough brushstrokes and spots.
